AE: OPT. CLM. $70,000. (6) YOU GUESSED IT was one I liked coming into his sophomore debut, and he was 3rd in that outing and in with a strong winner. He is coming off a 6th place effort last time out where he made a miscue off the gate, and is one capable of a winning effort here so long as he minds his manners. He draws well and I’m hoping he’s put into play. (1) FIREFLIESNTHUNDER got away in a good spot and then was stuck 3rd along the rail turning for home. He flashed some good trot but never left the cones in that effort. He will start from the pole position and is one that will have every opportunity to work out a winning trip.  (3) CALL ME PARKER was aggressively handled and got picked off before the wire by a rival who came first up against him. He looked like a winner two starts ago but made a miscue just before the wire. He seems to be inching closer to a victory but is one I feel inclined to play against. (9) HAPPY ANGEL was a distant 2nd to a very strong winner in his latest. He will have to start from the outside but can hit the ticket. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: POP UP SERIES FINAL: HORSES & GELDINGS CLAIMING $20,000 FOR NW $25,000 (OS $31,250) LIFETIME. (5) DIAMOND RYDER was a dominant winner in this opening Pop Up Series leg and then disappointed as the choice last time out after being able to go by the eventual winner. He was claimed out of that contest and will now race for new trainer Pam Forgie. He should have every opportunity to bounce back and will be tough to beat here. (4) ALWAYS B SWEETEST was working out a nice trip behind the eventual winner but had to settle for 2nd in that outing. He put in some steps at the head of the lane and lost a bit of ground, but still hung on to grab the place spot. He can work out another good trip. (3) MCWINNER has rounded out the super over his last two tries. He can hit the ticket in this short field. (2) SOME MIGHT SAY wasn’t a factor at this level last time out, but is coming into this start having hit the board in 10 of 15 tries. He can grab a share. [DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Mohawk Park card at DRF Bets.com!] Race 3: 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 2 (FM 4) RACES OR $20,000 (OS $36,500) LIFETIME. (7) SUNDAY SHOES is coming off a dominant score in his most recent, where he blew away his rivals in a gate to wire score. It was his 2nd start for new trainer Mike Vanderkamp, who put him on Lasix coming into that try. This might be too tough of an ask, but the price should be good enough in a tougher group, and I’ll side with him off that sharp score. (8) EXQUISITE TASTE was never a factor in her most recent try but flashed some good interest late running over a wall of rivals. She is back in a softer spot and will pick up the services of her co-owner, Louis-Philippe Roy, who I’d expect will be pointing this filly forward this evening. (1) FRENCH VODKA came first up vs. a rival who will be competing in the Goodtimes Final this weekend. He was a narrow 3rd but got picked off by another rival who was moving well late. He looked a bit bumpy in that outing and is one that is capable of a winning effort if he can put it all together, but we’ve yet to see that through four starts this year. (4) EUROBANK HANOVER was a refund in his latest after making a miscue well before the fair start pole. He draws well yet again and will pick up the services of driver Scott Young. He will be pointed forward if he stays to task. Race 4: FILLIES & MARES NW 2 RACES OR $30,000 (OS $37,500) LIFETIME. (10) ZETTE ATHENA is coming off a lifetime best performance where she dominated her rivals from start to finish, in a wrapped up score. She will have to overcome pp10 which hasn’t been favorable to trotters this year, but she’s been racing too well for me to side against right now. (9) CLARISSA W had a chance to angle out and this filly took a bit of a shuffle before angling out late. She flashed some trot in the mile and is one that could prove as a danger with a clean trip. (8) SHAMPOO GIRL was aggressively handled from pp10 in her latest and got picked off by a sharp rival just before the wire. It was just her 4th start of her young career, and getting a chance to get stretched out like that could prove as a positive here this evening. (2) LILY LACE was aggressively handled in her latest despite an outside draw and worked out a pocket trip to the one above. She didn’t have much to offer late in the mile, but has proven early on this year that she’s capable of better efforts. She can grab a share. Race 5: 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 1 (WINNERS FOR A PURSE OF $9,000 OR LESS 2 RACES) RACE OR $8,500 LIFETIME. (10) TAHONTA is coming into this contest a perfect 3-3 to start off his young career. Unraced at two, this three-year-old gelded son of Muscle Mass has picked up all of his victories at Kawartha Downs, and has done so with relative ease in each of those outings. He will try the big track this evening off and should be brimming with confidence, but he will have to overcome the outside draw this evening; and while that could be a hindrance, I’ll give him the nod here. (7) SOLO CP was sneaky good in his seasonal debut when he was in amongst rivals and flashed some good trot. Last week, however, he was up against it from pp10 and never got a chance to get involved from the word go. He didn’t have much trot when he got a clear shot in the lane, and this is one who is capable of a good showing if he’s at his best, but I’ll side with him to grab a share this evening. (5) INDUSTRIALISTS was a distant 3rd behind a dominant rival in his latest. He is winless in 13 tries this year but has hit the board in 9 of those tries, and is one that should have every opportunity to hit the ticket. (6) EIGHT WAY ROLLER has improved over his last two tries and has hit the ticket in each of those efforts. He draws a great post here, and he could be inching closer to a trip to the winner’s circle, but I like him for a piece this evening. Race 6: FILLIES & MARES, 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 1 RACE (WINNERS FOR A PURSE OF $9,000 OR LESS 2 RACES) OR $8,500 LIFETIME. (3) P L STEVIE was one I pegged on top last week after a sneaky good effort two starts ago. She tried to push out from the outside in hopes of getting involved early, but there were too many leavers to her inside. She settled towards grabbing a spot towards the back and was unable to get into an outside flow after a rival who jumped it off lingered to her outside. She flashed some good trot when she was able to get a clear shot and this is one I’ll give top honors to once again, especially with a much improved draw. (2) TRUDYBIRD stayed trotting during her second lifetime start and put forth a 3rd place effort as a result. She was stuck behind gapped cover when turning for home, but flashed some good trot late, and was moving forward when asked. She can take another step forward here and does merit respect. (8) FATEFUL was conservatively handled in her first start of her career, and was coming off two qualifiers ahead of that debut. She was behind a wall of rivals and showed some interest late when she found a seam. She will pick up the services of Louis-Philippe Roy this evening and is one to monitor here. (7) PIER HO EMERALD  disappointed as the chalk in the London Classic final, after working out a difficult trip. She was moving well late in the mile in a Grassroots leg over the big track two starts back, and is driver JR Plante’s choice over the one above. She’s a contender in what is a wide open race to kick off this late pick 5. Race 7: 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 2 (FM 4) RACES OR $20,000 (OS $36,500) LIFETIME. (5) GETTHEGREEN will be making his first start in nearly one month, after being a non-factor in the SBOA Final. He shows up to this effort on the Lasix medication, and that could explain why he finished up poorly in his most recent try. He has shown to have the most talent among this group of trotters right now, and is one I’ll side with one on class alone, in spite of the stale date. (7) HOUSTON SEELSTER broke his maiden two starts back with a dominant score, and followed that up with a very game, 3rd place effort at 31/1. He seems to be trending in the right direction and has shown he’s handy enough to get activated off the switch. He’s one I’ll use on a pick 5 ticket in the event the choice comes up short. (4) CAPTAIN SUZUKI was never involved in his most recent try and showed some okay trot late in the mile when angling out. He draws the middle of the gate and will be guided by Doug McNair this evening, who could elect to handle this 3YO aggressively this evening. (3) DEBRA was aggressively handled in her latest despite an outside draw, but tired late in the mile to be 6th. She draws inside and could be sitting close enough to stick around for a piece. Race 8: 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 2 RACES OR $30,000 (OS $37,500) LIFETIME. (7) TIMEWAITSONNOONE has won 2 of her last 3 tries since being claimed back into the Cam McQueen barn, and is coming off a lifetime best performance in her latest, stopping the clock 1:51 in the process. It was a game effort and she will be tough to go against in this group of seven. (6) STAY PUMPED is one I liked on the big track two starts back, and she finished 2nd after getting a troubled trip. She is coming off a 4th place effort at Grand River Raceway and might prefer being back at the Campbellville oval. She will need to find more if the one above puts forth a similar effort to last week. (1) WIFEY SAID SO is coming off a gate to wire score at Grand River. She has always been competitive at this level when she’s at her best, but her efforts on the big track have been lackluster as of late. She can hit the ticket. (4) CORA CORA CORA is coming off a 3rd place effort in her latest and will have every chance to hit the board here. [DRF HARNESS: Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter] Race 9: 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 2 (FM 4) RACES OR $20,000 (OS $36,500) LIFETIME. (2) DAY wasn’t much of a factor in his most recent Gold try. He was stuck behind an outer flow that wasn’t advancing, but he didn’t show much trot when angling out, anyways. He is capable of a better effort than what he showed that evening, and is one I’ll give the nod to here. (7) FAST SNAP left out aggressively in his latest and worked out a cozy, pocket trip behind the eventual winner. He angled out during the stretch drive to take his shot and didn’t have much to offer in that outing. He can be competitive vs. this bunch and merits respect if he’s on his game. (4) OUTBOUND TRAIN broke his maiden last time out in what appeared to be a measured victory. He came first over in that contest and went by a rival who is struggling to find the winner’s circle. He is one I would love to rate even higher, but he takes on rivals who have been facing tougher company. He can hit the ticket. (6) GO BLUE is coming off three-straight, 2nd place finishes. He is winless in 6 tries this year but has hit the board in each of them, and he’ll have every opportunity to continue that streak here. Race 10: FILLIES & MARES, CLAIMING $20,000 FOR NW $60,000 (OS $90,000) LIFETIME. (6) KIERA SEELSTER will be making her third start of the season. She drew outside draws in her first two outings of 2025 and never had an opportunity to get involved in each of them. She draws much better here and fits right in with this group on class and ability alone. I’d expect her to be aggressively handled and driver Jonathan Drury books off another rival for connections he drives for regularly, which provides additional intrigue. I’ll give her the nod in the finale. (4) SUPERIOR DELIGHT hung on for a narrow score in her latest, where she was able to fend off a stubborn rival to her outside, and keep a live rival locked in behind her. She has won 8 of her 15 starts this season and is one that always merits a great deal of respect at this level. (2) SOLIDAZABRICKHOUSE is coming off a narrow defeat, pacing a big mile in that effort. She stepped up in a big way in her second start for new trainer Cameron McQueen and is one to monitor this evening, even if she is taking on tougher company. (8) ALLSMOKEANDMIRRORS is coming off a narrow score at Georgian Downs vs. softer company in her latest. She was a dominant winner at this level two starts back, where came first over a long way, and was loads the best, but followed that up with an awful showing the week after. I’m not sure which version we’re going to see here; your guess is as good as mine. (1) LILLY CLARE rounded out the super in her latest and she can grab a share this evening.
