Woodbine: Making Amends tunes up for Summer Stakes

Making Amends also breezed five furlongs for Casse on Friday, going in company in 1:01.20 with Jason Hoyte aboard, preparing for Saturday’s Summer Stakes at Woodbine

The $250,000 Summer and its sister feature, the Grade 3 Natalma, both are one-mile turf races which offer Grade 3 status and are part of the Breeders’ Cup Challenge Win and You’re In series.

Making Amends, an Ontario-bred, won the restricted 5 1/2-furlong Clarendon at first asking and then finished third in the six-furlong Vandal.
Competing in open company for the first time, Making Amends finished fourth under regular rider Patrick Husbands in an open one-mile turf allowance won by the filly Hard Not to Like, a Natalma candidate.

“He had a horrid trip,” said Casse. “He was two lengths off the lead, looking for a place to go, got checked, and then got checked again at the eighth pole. “Patrick said he liked the turf.”
