Judiths Wild Rush, ridden by Slade Callaghan, overtakes even-money favorite Mobil by 1 1/4 lengths to win the Vigil Handicap at Woodbine.

Judiths Wild Rush overhauled even-money favorite Mobil in deep stretch to capture the Grade 3 at Woodbine.

Judiths Wild Rush, Canada's champion 2-year-old in 2003, tracked the leaders while boxed in during the first half of the seven-furlong race. Jockey Slade Callaghan angled him wide at the head of the stretch, and they closed strongly to prevail by 1 1/4 lengths, in a final time of 1:23.19.

"We were fortunate enough to have a perfect trip," Callaghan said. "I tried to get him to relax a little bit, and he got shuffled back a little at the three-eighths pole, but came running down the lane."

A Bit O'Gold finished two lengths behind the winner in third after a wide stalking trip.

Judiths Wild Rush ($12.50) banked $99,180 of the $166,100 purse for the Tenenbaum Racing Stable and trainer Reade Baker.
