Woodbine: It’s Gail survives inquiry to win Eternal Search

It's Gail lugged in under Luis Contreras but still was able to win the Eternal Search on Sunday.

ETOBICOKE, Ontario - It’s Gail collared pacemaker Blues Dancing in deep stretch to notch her first stakes victory in the $125,000 Eternal Search at Woodbine Sunday.

After mounting a wide rally from sixth, It’s Gail lugged in through the stretch under Luis Contreras and may have impeded the eventual third-place finisher, Future Surprise, a little near the eighth pole. Future Surprise’s rider claimed foul, but after a long inquiry the result stood.

Blues Dancing set fairly quick fractions in the 1 1/16-mile route and came up 1 3/4 lengths short of It’s Gail, who completed the distance in 1:46.37 and returned $4 as the favorite.
 
It’s Gail earned $75,000 for owner Rolph Davis and trainer Bob Tiller.

“She’s got a lot of ability, but she’s stubborn,” said Tiller. “She’s going to just keep getting better, in my opinion. She got to lugging in a little, but I thought she was clear of that horse.”
