Woodbine: High Mist stays undefeated

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – High Mist ($3.70) extended her unbeaten record to three races while landing her first stakes win in the $150,000 Fanfreluche, for Ontario-bred for 2-year-old fillies at Woodbine.

High Mist won her first two starts on the lead, but she rated just off a slow pace along the inside in the six-furlong dash. Emma Wilson angled High Mist into the three-path early in the stretch, and she overtook the leaders at the eighth-pole before drawing away to score by 2o1/2 lengths, in a time of 1:09.78.

"I didn't know what I was going to do with this filly until the gates opened," Wilson admitted. "She was settled and was relaxed. Once I showed her some daylight, she took off."

High Mist earned $94,500 for N C Stable and Wendy Anderson. She gave trainer Reade Baker his fourth win in the Fanfreluche.

Sans Sousi finished 1 1/4 lengths clear of Edamame in second. Deeveetee trailed in the four-horse field, after vying up front with Edamame.

Quelle Beaute ($7.50) captured Saturday's other stakes, the $102,100 River Memories, a one-mile turf event for fillies and mares.
