Woodbine Harness: Thursday 10/16 analysis

Race 4 - $50,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

Best Bet: MAJOR AARIES (9th)

Spot Play: HIGHLAND BORAS (4th)

Race 1

(6) MACH SOME NOISE finished a strong second last week in her second start off the shelf and closed off her mile very well. (3) CANT STOP caught my attention last week as she exploded in deep stretch to finish second. (10) AHEAD HANOVER has missed the board once from five career starts, coming into tonight's contest with a pair of victories.

Race 2

(7) DIONYSUS LINDY disappointed last week at low odds for Zeron and will look to rebound on this occasion. (4) CLIMB HIGHER raced very well in his latest pari-mutuel start with a third-place finish and appears to be a top threat in this classification. (2) COOL CREEK VALLEY put forth a much better effort in his latest, as the daughter of Windsong Espoir trotted the fastest mile of her career

Race 3

(4) BLOCKING THE WAY has been scratched twice, which is certainly a concern, but I'm going to hope for a price and pick him on top. (6) APRIL BREEZE ON BY raced very well from a post nine start to finish third and appears ready for this dash. (7) STUARTS DYNASTY recently finished second in his latest qualifier and will look to drop more time in tonight's dash.

Race 4

(3) HIGHLAND BOREAS draws inside and moves into the Marty Fine barn, which should lower his odds. (4) CIONA BROMACH was a winner last week in this classification as the gelding enjoyed his second victory of the season. (9) OAKMONT offered a low price last week in his debut on this circuit and produced a sub-par effort. The back-class veteran holds a solid record this season while racing in the Maritimes and will aim for a better result this evening.

Race 5

(4) BODY TALK has been a proven threat in this classification for many weeks and will likely offer a short price when the gates unfold. (6) WARRAWEE PRINCE has scored back-to-back wins for trainer Mark Steacy, including last week on this circuit. (2) KEN KAN WIN is carrying a three race win streak coming into tonight's contest for trainer Rhonda Markle.

Race 6

(2) SHHH ITS A SECRET comes from the Dean Nixon barn, draws inside and just missed last week. (5) BELLA MASTER also has a solid record this season and has hit the board in five of her last six starts. (6) OK GODIVA finished a game third last week for trainer Mark Steacy as the sophomore pacer was only defeated less than a length for the win.

Race 7

(8) ROLLTIDEROLL was a winner last week in this class for high percentage trainer Marty Fine. (7) OCEANVIEW BINDI will enter a new barn for the first time since the summer of 2012 and trainer Carmen Auciello has an excellent reputation with first time starters.(3) BEST RISQUE draws inside and finished second behind Rolltideroll last week.

Race 8

(3) WHEELING N DEALIN was largely overbet last week and had to settle for third. I'll back him this week and hope for a better price. (6) MEGO MOSS posted the 5-1 upset last week over Wheeling N Dealin and is quite capable of doing it again. (7) CHARLIE IS A JOKER has quickly risen to this class over the past few starts since arriving in the Baillargeon barn.

Race 9

(8) MAJOR AARIES will make just his third career start, but has been brought along nicely which has resulted in a first and second-place finish to date. (1) KINDOFABIGDEAL comes from the Moreau barn and the gelding will make just his third career start. (10) BLISSFUL RIVER raced very well last week in this class considering he got interfered with down the stretch.

Race 10

(6) SWAN IN A MILLION made an uncharacteristic break last week for trainer/driver Jones as the favorite in this Preferred event and will look to rebound. (5) CALIPARI was a winner last week in this Preferred class and the six-year-old gelding has the momentum in his corner with wins in his last two starts. (1) TAKE MY PICTURE moves onto this circuit once again for Drennan and finally draws an inside post.

Race 11

(7) FRANKIES FIRST LUV has won four of his five career starts, including last week on this circuit for trainer James Marsden. (3) BADLANDS LOVE has put together a solid string of races in her last three starts for trainer Corey Johnson. The pacing miss has been a top threat in this classification over the past few weeks. (4) NARCIAN JEWEL doesn't have the best performances leading up to tonight's dash, but the brown filly shows 1:53 2/5 speed just four lines down her page.
