Woodbine Harness: Saturday 1/18 Analysis

Race 4 - $50,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

Spot Play: J C ONTHEBEACH (10th)

Race 1

(3) WEST SIDE STORY has won three straight and four of his last five. (6) FIVE TOWNS has been racing very consistently, is fresh off a win and draws well. (1) PHOTO MASS gets the rail and comes out of Johnson's barn. He's versatile and gets Waples in the bike.

Race 2

(5) MACHAL JACKSON comes out of the O'Sullivan and drops in class. He looks like he's ready to drop and pop after a brief hiatus. (4) DRAIN DADDY has hit the board in each of his last three starts, including in his latest at this level. (3) ROETHBLISSBERGER races at his best when he leaves the gate and draws inside.

Race 3

(2) GUNGA WIN draws inside and moves into the Johnson barn, that's the main reason for my selection. (8) NORTHERN VICTORY has been the picture of consistency and is a logical option in here. (4) MOPEY COREY won last start, draws well and is capable of the class jump.

Race 4

(3) WORLD AWAY may provide a price and has a lot of back class. He's due for a win and draws inside. (1) SKY MCFLY needs a tag-along trip. Hopefully that happens from post one. (7) LENNON BLUE CHIP comes out of Moreau's barn and drops in class. The class drop should benefit him tremendously.

Race 5

(4) SAMIRA HANOVER has been racing at her best, but hasn't raced since Nov. 29. That concerns me, but if she's fit, she's a top threat in here. (3) MAGIC WILL WORK draws inside and has been knocking on the door in her last few outings. (10) FLIGHT OF THE KIWI raced tremendous last start en route to an open-length victory. A repeat effort makes him a key contender.

Race 6

(6) IDEAL RACE comes out of the Preferred and into this class. He also gets reunited with Jamieson. (9) ALSACE HANOVER put together a punishing victory in his latest. He's a major threat especially with McNair in the bike. (3) MCKINNEY has hit the board in five of his last six starts. He's a terrific option for the exactor or triactor.

Race 7

(2) SANTANNA BLUE CHIP draws inside and drops back down in class where he won two starts ago. (3) HARD TO MACH draws inside and drops in class as well. He comes out of Menary's barn and likely will offer a low price. (7) BOLD DECISION scored a comfortable, open-length victory in his latest and moves up in class.

Race 8

(1) GENESEE gets the rail and has won each of his last two starts. Don't expect a price. (7) WAYLON HANOVER has tremendous gate-speed and has hit the board in each of his last six starts. (6) CHEYENNE MOISHE comes out of the Montini barn and enjoys leaving the gate. He's classified well and is a top contender in this class.

Race 9

(7) BURNIN MONEY was hard-used to earn the front last start and faded down the stretch. He'll likely not offer a price and won his two starts prior. (9) SCARY GOOD seemed to get along with Jamieson well last start. He's back aboard and that's a good angle to use. (8) DELCREST JULIAN enjoys racing from behind and closed very well in both his last two starts. Expect the same tactics used once again.

Race 10

(6) J C ONTHEBEACH was sensational two and three starts ago before putting together a sub-par effort in his latest. I'm looking for a rebound effort after some time off. (9) ALEXAS JACKPOT hasn't been worse than second in each of his last six starts. (3) BILBO HANOVER draws inside and has won two straight since arriving in the Brealey barn.

Race 11

(1) APPRENTICE HANOVER has been terrific in the past two months and is surely the horse to beat in here after four straight wins. (4) CASIMIR JITTERBUG gets McNair in the bike and was a game second last start in this class. (7) MODERN LEGEND draws outside and went a tough trip last start. He's a logical choice for the triactor.

Race 12

(8) THORN IN YOUR SIDE ended off last season with a terrific record. He has terrific gate-speed and just missed in his latest. (1) AVATARTIST gets the rail and will likely be leaving the gate. He's been racing very consistently and likely won't offer any value. (6) BREES CREEK is fresh off a win, comes out O'Sullivan's barn and has been racing at his best in recent starts.

Race 13

(1) JAC SPADE has been assigned post 10 in each of his last three starts and now gets the rail. He shouldn't be as far back and has a terrific late kick. (6) BARE NECESSITY races very well at this level and went a tough trip in his latest. (4) DAPPER DENZIL has moved barns in each of his last two starts and has finished first and second. He remains at the same class, draws well and gets Jamieson in the bike.
