Woodbine Harness: Monday 1/7 Analysis

Race 4 - $50,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

Best Bet (0-1 / $0.00): SHARK FANTASY (5th)

Race 1

(3) WORTHY ADVANTAGE races for the Auciello barn, which has been red-hot as of late. He was parked the entire mile last start at this level and still finished second. (5) FAMOUS MARK moves back to this circuit after some time at Flamboro. He's been racing very well over the half-mile oval and should be competitive in here. (6) CON BRIO HALL made up a lot of ground last start to finish fourth. If he's better placed off the gate, I like his chances to be top three.

Race 2

(4) SWEET TALKIN SATIN had the majority of last summer off and made his return last week a winning one. He can only be better off that effort. (2) ER ROOM has been racing very well at this level in his last two starts. He draws inside and enjoys being put into the race. (5) HOPE BLUE CHIP has been knocking on the door in his last few starts at Rideau Carleton. When trainer Steacy brings his horses to Woodbine, they are always ready.

Race 3

After his 1:54 3/5 winning effort last start, (1) STAR RUFFNREADY is certainly worth a major look in here. He was put into play early and responded well, while providing a price. (4) WATKINS is another top play that will get a lot of attention. He also won at this level last start and comes out of the Moreau barn. (6) DEFINE THE WORLD makes a move to the Preferred level, but he's won at this level in the past. After his latest 1:54 1/5 winning effort last start, he's worth a look.

Race 4

(7) BLUE CHIP SUNSHINE went first-over last week and finished second. He's at the same level again and with a better trip, he can win like he did two starts ago. (2) GEORGE JETTISON also finished second in this class last week. He draws inside and has proven to be very competitive while in this class. (9) LONG FIGHT HANOVER appears that he's at his best when he's forwardly placed off-the-gate. He'll have to overcome post nine.

Race 5

(7) CRACKER ZACK has been racing very well at this level and is due to jump up and win. Hie put him into the race last week and I hope that happens again. I'm looking for value. (1) STRAWBERRY WINE is a great option to have for the exactor and triactor wagers. He scored one win from 18 starts last season and went 11 for 18 finishing second or third. (9) BETTY OOP is a longshot play. He doesn't like to leave, so I'm going to look for him late. This is not a deep field of horses.

Race 6

(5) SHARK FANTASY got a great second-over trip last start and got tired late in the mile. He's very lightly-raced, but has a lot of speed and I think he's ready to win. (9) MANCHESTER closed very well last week to finish third. It was his first lifetime start and he looked very good with a solid :26 4/5 final quarter. (8) ROCK N GO is a horse that I don't think can win, but is capable of being top three. I hope he is well positioned in the early going.

Race 7

(9) COOL GUY will likely get a lot of support after finishing second in this class last week. He did most of the work, before only getting beat by a head. (4) HOMER JAY moves up in class, but I think he can handle it. He's been knocking on the door as of late. (2) CHUCKALO CADEN was won two straight and jumps up in class. He's certainly capable of being top three in here.

Race 8

(7) ST PETE STAR remains at a level where he has finished first and second at in his last two starts. He'll likely be the post time favourite and deserves to be. (1) MY FELLA has won two-straight and begins from post one. He's the veteran of the race with a lot of back-class. (8) KENNAIRN BUCKWHEAT is fresh off a win and had a solid 2012 campaign. He's classified correctly.

Race 9

(4) ORDER BY ROOSEVELT drops to the bottom of the condition sheet and is certainly due for a win. He draws a good post and should be well placed. (2) PERFECT VACATION is fresh off a win and moves into this condition event. He comes from a top barn and showed enough speed last week to be a threat in here. (9) PRESTO PEGASUS came from far back last week to finish a hard-closing second. He'll likely come from behind once again with an outside start.

Race 10

(2) GARETH NOURRIR makes a move up in class, but has been racing very well. He'll have to jump up, but he draws well and enjoys being put into the race early. (6) POP COP looks like he races best when he's on or near the front. This is a short field and he's at a level where he's very competitive. (7) MODERN XHIBIT used a :27 1/5 final quarter last week to finish fifth, but only beaten by two lengths for the win. He may be the 'dark horse' in the race.

Race 11

(5) ATOKA MILLIONAIRE won 18 of 37 starts last season which is a terrific statistic. He wasn't at his best last week, but he's at the same level and I'm looking for a rebound effort. (2) DANIEL SEMALU also had a solid season last year and is always competitive while racing in this class. He draws inside and may offer a price. (7) PASS THE DEUCE came first-over last week to finish second. He'll likely offer value. This isn't a deep field and I'm looking for a big payout.
