Woodbine Harness: Monday 1/5 Analysis

Race 4 - $50,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

Best Bet: SLIP INTO GLIDE (2nd)

Spot Play: BURNIN MONEY (5th)

Race 1

(9) BAGS FOR ALL looks like a good option to kick off the card as the daughter of Swan For All will debut for new trainer Joe Cirasuola. (7) SORRENTO HALL made a miscue last week at this level as the favourite and will look to rebound. (6) MUSCLE BOYTOY has been racing very consistent as of late and is very likeable in this opening dash.

Race 2

(8) SLIP INTO GLIDE did most of the work on the front last week when dropping to this level and came up short by a head. (6) NOWUCIT NOWUDONT went a tough trip last week as he was parked every step of the mile, but was still around at the finish as he settled for fourth. (4) SAMIRA HANOVER offers terrific gate-speed and will start from a favourable post position this week.

Race 3

(1) DEVILS ARCADE went gate-to-wire in his latest qualifying effort for new trainer Ryan Maxwell and the son of Badlands Hanover appears ready for his first dash on Canadian soil. (6) MORNING BLUE CHIP was a $150K yearling purchase and will make his second career start. (2) HARBOR PLACE finished third last week for trainer Emilie Auger and the gelding draws inside again this week.

Race 4

(2) LITTLE QUICK went a big mile for this class in his latest. (8) THINKBEFOREUSPEAK continues to show the speed for this group as the gelding enjoys racing from behind and offer solid final quarter speed. (10) COWBOY CODY draws post 10 for a second straight week and the gelding can’t be overlooked at this bottom claiming level.

Race 5

(1) BURNIN MONEY draws inside this week and drops down in class for trainer Carmen Auciello. (2) TOP TART is a new addition into the Ben Baillargeon barn and the trotting miss will make her WEG Circuit debut this evening following a private purchase. (4) J CS JAKE comes from the Joe Cirasuola barn, draws inside and drops in class.

Race 6

(3) SHOW TOPPER is always a main contender when racing at this low-end claiming level and this week is no different. (4) LOST IN PANSLATION has been well known for his terrific gate-speed when called upon and draws well again this week for trainer Blake Macintosh. (9) HOPEFTOBEFIRST put together a credible campaign last season and finished second last week in this class for trainer Ron Mitchell.

Race 7

(3) OZZY OZZY has been racing very consistent as of late and draws inside into this evenly-matched group. (4) DREAMFAIR BOGART has also been on his game as of late for trainer Ben Baillargeon. (8) EXEMPLAR has hit the board in each of his last two starts and comes from the Per Henriksen barn.

Race 8

(3) HIT AND GIGGLE A hasn’t raced since Nov. 29, which is a concern, but the speedy pacer is fresh off a 1:51 3/5 effort by three lengths. (4) NO BU posted an impressive victory in his latest for trainer Joe Pereira and driver Simon Allard. (10) HES A SENSATION likely would have been ranked either on top or second if it wasn’t for a post 10 start.

Race 9

(9) STRONG HOPE will get my top selection in this wide-open contest based on his recent form. (1) FALCOR BLUESTONE draws inside and moves back onto this circuit following one dash at Yonkers. (5) QUIT SMOKING NOW has been very consistent while racing at this bottom end class for trainer Herb Holland.

Race 10

(4) LIFEIMITTATESART was individually timed in 1:51 3/5 in his latest and that type of performance is hard to go unlooked in this bottom class. (2) AUTOMATIC SLIMS draws inside and thought the veteran pacer finished sixth in his latest, he was timed in 1:52 3/5. (6) BEAUTIFUL SOUL has the speed to be a part of the triactor in this dash and the nine-year-old drops down in class and begins in the middle of the gate.

Race 11

(5) WHISTLE JIMMY K will likely be the post time favourite although the four-year-old moves up in class this week. (2) WHOS IN THE MIST didn’t post a victory last season from 21 starts, but he finished off his 2014 season with back-to-back third place finishes. (6) DRAGON WAVE continues to show the 1:54 speed, which makes him a top threat in this race.
