AZOREAN NIGHT (NW1FM) Had a long way to come over a speed favoring track and managed to do just that. Late closing lady has to be respected in next.
SAMILLION DOLLARS (CLMHCP10/12000) Beaten favorite got away slowly and got caught in traffic in the early going. Had to navigate around and through horses but finished well enough to earn another chance.
MARQUIS DE SARAH (NW2FM) Got stuck in the pocket searching for room but found it too late as the rail opened in deep stretch.
WESTERN ALUMNI (CLM12000) Was abused in last as early traffic got her parked in the early going. She came on uncovered prompting the pace to the third panel before packing it in.
Friday, February 15
RUN ON LUCK (CLMHCP30/40000FM) Beaten favorite could not last on the front end over a tiring track and should be given a chance to aton.
ELIN (NW3) Got locked in the pocket with nowhere to go and is another beaten favorite with an excuse that can atone with racing luck.
DELICIOUSLYNAUGHTY (NW14000FM) Left, tucked, got shuffled, pulled and brushed to the lead, yielded, got shuffled again, sat to the lane and was flat when it counted but should score soon.
MACH ME NOT (CLMHCP15/20000FM) Came from out of the clouds through the lane to notch third and has to early a look in next race or two.
Saturday, February 16
WINDSONG HERCULES (NW5000) Was seemingly lost in the snow until the stretch, hit overdrive and finished fastest of all from `snow-where.'
REALLY SEXY GUY (CLMHCP20/30000) Was buried in the snow last time behind dead horses, got to the stretch, wove handily through traffic.
BURNIN MONEY (NW4) Should be making money soon if last was any indication of his true self as he charged through the stretch quickest of all from impossible spot.
LEAFS AND WINGS (NW12000) Was outpaced early and trailed into the lane. Finished next to last but was pacing fast enought to earn a look with a drop in company.
Monday, February 18
EVENING JOB (CLMHCP10/12000) Left, took the top, yielded but was shuffled, had to race 3rd over the final 3/8 and closed well chasing the favorite home.
JEREMES GENERAL (NW1) grinded up the lasdt quarter and closed gamely but was twarted by the rocket on the rail.
HOT ART (NW2) Was shuffled out along the way but managed to be a distant second over into the lane, knifed quickly to the rail and scooted home with very fast pace.
TWIN B WRANGLER (CLMHCP20/30000) Was used hard throughout in last. Parked to the half to get command, he set a pressed pace, dug in gamely putting away the challenger and the tripped out pocket horses.
Best Bets
Win streaks are on the line here. ELIZABETH A has won two straight and four of five. Three of the wins and a second have come at this level, where she has nver finished worse than second in her past five starts. She likes the distance and loves this track. Has a nice maintenance drill since her win. FOLLOW THE CROWD is also gunning for a hat trick today. She's won four of six starts here and is 2-for-2 this year, winning at this level after a nine-month layoff and then winning for a lower tag while running against a tougher field.
