Woodbine Harness: Horses to watch from April 4 - April 8

Thursday, April 4

E L ROCKET (NW2) Closed well from a distant 3rd over in last effort finishing best of all and can take one soon.

STRAWBERRY WINE (NW2) Raced uncovered in last escorting the winner to the lane and chased him home once passed a well wrapped up 2nd best.

SWING GIRL (OntS) Made a good uncovered bid in last at 69-1 challenging the odds-on favorite the last three-eighths. Finished third as the favorite won and the pocket horse got up for 2nd but showed enough to earn a look facing weaker stock.

FOOLISH MIND (NW2FM) Sat in the pocket hard to hold looking for racing room heading home, bulled out enough to bump a foe and cause a chain reaction. Beaten favorite seemed like she would have been hard to deny if she had managed to get out.

Friday, April 5

DOLCE DUCCI (CLMHCP10/12000) Proved to be the ultimate pocket rocket winner in last and should stay sharp enough to earn another victory.

MOPEY COREY (CLMHCP10/12000)  Had all the worst of it last sitting blindswitched in the lane while raging with trot and would have made his presence felt if he cleared.

MARGARITA MAN (CLMHCP20/25000) Sat raging in the pocket as the speed gave way, found room inside in the shadow of the wire and rushed home powerfully. Trainer/driver connection seems to be heating up.

FIRST IMPRESSION (CLMHCP10/12000) This beaten favorite got away poorly from the 8-hole in last and was never in it. He followed the wide flow through the lane from a ridiculous 6th over so a `second impression' might be in order.

Saturday, April 6

COOL ROCK (NW14000) Beaten favorite was moving best of all but had to come from a distant third over.

JUSTALITTLELUCK (NW5000) Needed it in last as he was trapped in the pocket with plenty to offer.

LAKEFIELD (NW8000) Trotter left, tucked, pulled, challenged a long way and dug in stubbornly but tired. Beaten favorite can atone with better trip.

WILD DRAGON (NW5000) Brushed to early command, set a good clip on wide open lead, looked wobbly heading home and gave up a huge leader. Tighter in next.

Monday, April 8

TAXMAN (NW2) Got caught wide a long way trying to clear stalled cover, hit a good stride in the late stages but it was just too much to overcome. Beaten favorite can get it done in next.

SMOKIN BEAR (NW10000) Left in last but skipped some steps, got looped to the lead and parked for life, challenged a long way but tired and better racing luck may be all it takes.

COUGAR HALL (NW1) Got buried on the rail to the stretch, tipped, wove through traffic, ducked in late and closed well to just miss second.

BETTOR THAN YOU (NW2) Hit his best stride too late to get it done in last but his :26/4 last panel was an eye-opener.
