Woodbine Harness: Friday 2/22 Analysis

Race 4 - $50,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

Best Bet (8 - 19 / $28.80): MONKEY ON MY WHEEL (3rd)

Spot Play: CATCH A DRAGON (6th)

Race 1

(7) BALLYKEEL MIKE has been consistent at this level and is due for a win. Pereira's barn has not been hot lately, but this horse has been knocking on the door. (5) ARMBRO CHRONICLE is at the bottom level and I think he can be more effective. He's got the back-class and is showing enough speed to be a factor in this race. (9) WINDSONG HERCULES went from tenth-to-third last week with a :27 3/5 final quarter. He'll have to overcome the outside post, but he's a good option to consider for the triactor.

Race 2

(1) AMAZING QUEST remains at the same level he finished second in last week. He was roughed up to the quarter and was only beaten by half a length for the win. He draws inside and he's been very consistent this season. (4) ELITE has been inconsistent as of late, but he comes from a high percentage trainer in Nixon and this horse has won at this level just four starts ago. (5) SHOW TOPPER moves into the Fellows barn and that's a handicapping angle I took advantage of. He does move up in class, but deserves to as he found the winner's circle last week.

Race 3

(8) MONKEY ON MY WHEEL posted a very good qualifying effort with a :26 4/5 final quarter. Some handicappers might think she needs a start under her belt after a layoff, but I think otherwise. She's the class of this field. (5) GREYSTONE LADYLIKE captured this event last week, but this will be her toughest task so far in her career. (3) DIDRICKSON has been racing very well at this level and will likely use the same off-the-pace tactics as she usually does. Once again, she's a good option for the triactor in this short field.

Race 4

(8) CADILLAC CRUISER found the winner's circle last week and provided a very good payout. The addition of lasix last week appeared to help. (9) MAX MONEY made a break last week and came back to score a convincing win. He also comes out of the Johnson barn, which will only decrease his value. (1) THE PRINCIPLE came from last-to-second last week with a solid final quarter. This week he draws inside and should be better placed in the early going.

Race 5

(9) CORPORATE SHARRRK is fresh off the claim and moves into the Cirasuola barn and that's the major reason for my selection. This horse enjoys racing from behind and picking horses off late. He also drops in class that he was previously in. (6) SUPERBOWL PARTY finished third at this level last week. He tends to be inconsistent, but at this bottom level, he's certainly worth consideration. (3) ST LADS DUDE remains at the bottom level that he races in last week and draws more inside. This race is very wide-open and a high payout is very possible.

Race 6

(7) CATCH A DRAGON drops down in class after finishing third at a higher level last week. She hasn't missed the board yet this season and I feel she's got a great shot to win. (8) RUB N TUG has been knocking on the door at this level that likely will continue. This isn't a deep group and she finished second last week in this class after leading for most of the mile. (2) LETS GO GET EM used a ground saving trip last week to finish third. She draws much better and once again I think she is a contender.

Race 7

(5) CAMS TUX came from well off-the-pace last week to finish third, beaten by just one length for the win. He enjoys picking horses off late in the mile and they go quick speed up front, I like his chances. (10) CAMPASSER didn't fare so well when he was at this level two starts ago, but he moves into the Tyrell barn, which has been solid so far in 2013. He has the gate-speed to overcome post 10 and may offer a price. (7) CAJON HOT SHOT has been knocking on the door in his last three outings and moves up in class. I'm not convinced he can win, but judging by his recent racelines, I think he's capable of being top three.

Race 8

(2) WITHOUT A CLUE went a very tough mile last week at The Meadowlands after being parked the entire mile. Last year, he captured five wins from eight starts and shows very speedy times. He'll likely be the post time favourite. (1) EXCUSE ME PLEASE hasn't raced since January 25, but has been racing very well at this level. He shows good gate-speed to be involved early and draws inside. (10) JOSEPH GERARD was full of trot last week before making a break in stride. He's capable of overcoming post 10 and if he behaves himself, I like his chances.

Race 9

(4) RUN ON LUCK has gone two tough opening quarters in her last pair of starts and it took its toll on her in deep stretch. She starts from a good post and if she's not pressured too much in the early going, that may be the difference maker in finding the winner's circle. (9) ROCA REI finished third in this class last week and in my opinion, she didn't put in the best effort. She begins from the outside, but comes out of Moreau's barn and I'm looking for a better performance. (6) MACHLEEN finished fourth last week at this level, but she was put on the front at the half and that's not her strongest suit. She enjoys coming from behind and those tactics will likely get used.

Race 10

(6) ADDYS WAY scored a comfortable win last week at this level and will likely be the post time favourite. She comes out of Allard's barn and is the obvious choice at this level. (7) JANIE BAY has won two-straight and once again moves up in class. She's been performing at her best lately and should draw some attention for trainer Gallucci. (5) MACH ME NOT has been knocking on the door lately and has been providing a healthy price. She draws inside, enjoys racing from off-the-pace and is certainly capable of being top three.

Race 11

(2) GOODBADANDDEUGLY N now is conditioned by Coleman and she has an excellent reputation for first-time starters. This horse is classified correctly and has won at a much higher level in the past. (6) GRACIE MONTANA has been racing very well so far this season and remains at a class that best suits her. If they go quick speed on the front, that will only increase her chances as they turn for home. (1) WARRAWEE LIMELIGHT is certainly capable of being top three in this class. She draws inside and is very versatile.
