Woodbine Harness: Friday 1/9 Analysis

Race 4 - $50,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

Best Bet: TOTAL LEE (9th)

Spot Play: RUBIS PRESCOTT (6th)

Race 1

(7) P L HEAVENLY has won two of his last three starts and is coming into this opening round in top form. (5) VEGAS RICH won't have to overcome the outside like he did in each of his last two starts as he'll begin from post five this week. (3) CONVERSATION BOY was on top of his game in the late months of last year, before the son of Tell All enjoyed a mini vacation and resurfaced Dec. 18.

Race 2

(1) ABS MUSCLES BOY has posted five straight wins and is an obvious choice in the win column. (3) DONCANGO benefits from another inside post this week and will gain a lot of attention for his recent performances. (4) ESCUELA went a big mile in her latest for trainer Tony O'Sullivan as the trotting miss enjoyed a new career best of 1:54 1/5.

Race 3

(4) KINDOFABIGDEAL has been on top of his game as of late for trainer Richard Moreau and is a top threat in this opening round. (3) RAMBLINGAMBLINMAN has hit the board in three of his last four starts and was very impressive two back. (2) VERBALIZE has been racing very well as of late for trainer Ed Galinski.

Race 4

(7) MITTCENT VAN GOGH suffered a tough trip in the final of the Valedictory Series and now enters the Snowshoe Series, which is a lighter group of horses in my opinion. (6) AMERICAN ISLAND also competed in the Valedictory series final and will enter this series for trainer Richard Moreau. (8) HIS BOY ELROY takes a jump up in class as he enters this series for trainer Jean Belliveau.

Race 5

(9) ETRUSCAN HANOVER has forced to qualify after two consecutive breaks, but looks like the horse to beat in this dash. (2) LATOKA has won two of his last three starts, draws inside and comes from the Joe Cirasuola barn. (7) WALK THE PLANK has hit the board in each of his last two starts and three of his last four.

Race 6

(10) RUBIS PRESCOTT will need to overcome the outside post 10, but the talented mare shows the gate-speed and may offer a fair price. (9) RADAR CONTACT also raced in the Fillies & Mares Preferred two starts ago and raced very well last week to finish second in this class. (6) GIVE ME AN AMEN has been racing very consistent as of late for owner/trainer Ken Sucee as the five-year-old has been in the top four in three of her last four starts.

Race 7

(4) D GS JUSTLIKETHAT hit the board in seven of nine starts last season and will return to this circuit as the Snowshoe Series begins. (2) YS LOTUS enjoys racing from off-the-pace therefore a post two beginning is an ideal starting spot for him. (5) A BOY NAMED SUUZZ put up good numbers last season and comes from a high percentage barn in Rob McMillan.

Race 8

(8) RUB N TUG hasn't raced since Dec. 19, which is a concern, but the veteran mare is capable of a winning effort for trainer Dave Brown. (1) MISTRESSTOTHESTARS raced very well last week considering the slow fractions offered on the front end. (9) HAT TRICK HONEY hasn't been at her best in recent weeks, but perhaps the drop in class will be the turning point.

Race 9

(5) TOTAL LEE likely will be the favourite this week as the four-year-old has finished second in each of her last three starts for trainer Charles Stewart. (4) VAL DI NOTO has a lot of upside to her coming into this dash. (7) DIANNA SANTANNA has been racing more consistently for trainer Jeff Gillis as of late.

Race 10

(7) WAASMULA looks like the best mare in the field on paper and the pacing miss is capable of overcoming the outside post seven in here. (4) MARQUISE DE SARAH has back-to-back wins for trainer Dave Menary and the daughter of Mach Three couldn't be coming into this dash any better. (2) BULLET POINT has been well known for her gate-speed as the back-class mare likes to be the tempo-setter in the early stages of the mile.

Race 11

(4) WANNA ROCK N ROLL was a beaten favourite last week in this class and get lots of attention again this week. (1) WINDSONG JACOBA draws the rail in this dash and the daughter of Mach Three has put up good numbers since entering the Auciello barn two starts back. (3) DAZZLE N DELIGHT looks like a good option for the triactor in this dash from an inside post.
