Woodbine Harness: Friday 12/21 Analysis

Race 4 - $50,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

Spot Play: JET SPEED (5th)

Race 1

(9) FACING JUSTICE was able to overcome post 10 last week en route to victory. He's at the same level and has won five of 11 starts this season. (10) REAL HOUSEWIFE was parked the whole mile and was able to finish third in the Autumn Stakes final. She'll have to overcome post nine, but I think she can do it. (3) STEREOTYPE didn't put forth his best effort in his latest, but is certainly a threat in here.

Race 2

(4) ST LADS PEEPER raced from off-the-pace in her latest and finished third with a solid final quarter. I think her best stride comes on the front-end and I hope that tactic gets used from post four. (6) THE SUMMER WIND also likes racing near the front-end and that likely will occur again. She's been racing very well in this class. (7) SAUBLE CLAIRE scored an impressive win over Georgian Downs and gets Jamieson in the bike. She may offer a price, but is certainly worth a shot.

Race 3

(8) AMIGO DE GRANDE is a chancy play, but if he has his game face on, he's the one to beat at this level. He drops into the bottom class after having time off and certainly could win. (5) CON BRIO HALL moves to this circuit and deserves to after putting up great numbers at Kawartha Downs. He's been on the board in each of his last five starts. (1) KILTED PRIDE finished second, by a head, last week. He draws inside and remains at the same level.

Race 4

(2) DELICIOUSLYNAUGHTY found the winner's circle last week in her debut for Gillis. She scored a comfortable win and moves slightly up in class. (5) ARDOR LOCKE finished second at this level last week and draws a good post again. She may offer value. (3) CATCH A DRAGON gets class relief and should be competitive at this level.

Race 5

(1) JET SPEED is a three-year-old facing older mares, but she is certainly capable of winning. She draws inside and uses terrific final quarters to always be in the hunt. She also drops in class. (8) CONTINUAL VELOCITY has a terrific record this season and is a threat at this level. She lowers in class, gets Jamieson and has terrific gate-speed. (3) RUN ON LUCK was only beaten by two lengths in her latest outing for the win. She draws inside and comes from the Coleman barn.

Race 6

(8) ILLUSIONSNDREAMS is always a top competitor in this class. He has the gate-speed to be well positioned and comes from a hot barn. (2) STRONG HOPE raced very well last week to finish third, while providing value. He draws inside and I expect a similar trip. (9) ILL BE THERE doesn't like to win, but proved after last week that he's competitive in this class. Hopefully he can overcome post nine.

Race 7

(7) MC TAYLOR gets major class relief and should be a top threat at this level. The last time she was in this class, she found the winner's circle. (9) TEA PARTY PRINCESS might be the only horse that can defeat MC TAYLOR. She is also lowering in class, comes from a strong barn and can overcome post nine. (10) RUB N TUG might be a longshot play, but she has been competitive at a higher level. She's had a good 2012 campaign and has good gate-speed.

Race 8

(7) STONEBRIDGE WISH did all the work last week before fading to third. I'm looking for a better effort in a short field. (1) CAMS TUX appears to be a mystery at times. He's won two of his last four starts and finished off-the-board in the other two. He draws inside and back in a claimer. (3) SMOKEYS LUCK debuts for new trainer Heard. He's always competitive in this class and that shouldn't change. He'll likely provide minimal value.

Race 9

(7) WARK WOMAN blasted to the front last week, but was pressured throughout the mile before tiring at the top of the stretch. She draws better and if she can rate her own mile, she should be much better. (3) UNCOMMON NIGHT was the first-over attacker on WARK WOMAN last week and with a better trip should provide a better result. She certainly has the speed. (5) MAJESTIC TAGLET picked up all the pieces to find the winner's circle at odds of 42-1. I'm not convinced she can win again, but is a good option to have for triactor wagers.

Race 10

(8) LUCKY ENCOUNTER has won two of his last three starts and comes from a very strong barn. He'll likely provide very low value. (7) BARE NECESSITY gets major class relief after finishing third at a much higher level. He is certainly a top threat in here with a 3-0-3 record from eight starts this season. (6) COOL ROCK loves to race from behind and use his terrific final quarter speed to his advantage. He draws well and certainly can hit the board.

Race 11

(5) DESIGNER DREAMS moves to this circuit and has won four-straight races. Her 1:53 3/5 win over Northfield in Ohio (half mile oval) is convincing enough for me to put her on top. (8) EPOXY QUEEN finished second last week at this level. She's only had eight starts this season and likely will offer a price again. (2) TWIN B ELITE has hit the board in each of her last three starts and Wallace's barn has been getting better as of late.
