ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Go Greeley ($4.20) gamely held off a persistent Heart to Heart to notch his second straight stakes win Sunday at Woodbine in the $150,000 Vandal.

Go Greeley set quick fractions in the six-furlong dash for 2-year-olds while being pressed by Heart to Heart, a shipper from Arlington Park. Heart to Heart drew alongside him at the head of the stretch, but Go Greeley dug in through the final furlong to prevail by a nose in 1:10.33.

Man o’ Bear rallied belatedly to overtake another well-regarded first-time starter, Matador, for third in a field reduced to eight with the scratches of Grom and Iron Wolf.

The Vandal was the fourth score on the card for Eurico Rosa da Silva, who rode Go Greeley for owner and trainer John Ross.

“He broke well and positioned himself comfortably,” da Silva said. “I just let him be there. That other horse also showed a lot of heart. He never gave up, and we had a good fight. We were the lucky ones to win.”
