ETOBICOKE, Ontario - The unbeaten Eternal Rule made his stakes debut successful Saturday at Woodbine in the $150,000 Achievement, scoring by 5 1/4 lengths under David Clark.

Eternal Rule ($5.60) led the way through fractions of 22.70 and 45.44 seconds in the six-furlong dash for Ontario-bred 3-year-olds. He opened up a clear lead exiting the turn, and then drew off on his left lead while drifting in through the final furlong, winning in a time of 1:09.43.

Bear No Joke, who was quite studdish in the prerace warm-up, finished a surprising second at 14-1, and Say No More wound up third. Favored Bear's Chill, normally a front-runner, was rated near the back of the pack and never reached contention, trailing the six-horse field.

Eternal Rule, now 3 for 3, banked $90,000 for owner/breeder Donald Myers. Trainer Sid Attard said he was concerned about running the gelding back on short rest off an allowance win in his season opener.

"I was really worried about coming back in 13 days, but it didn't bother him," Attard explained. "I want to give him a month off now."
