Delegation, the only 3-year-old in the field, goes wire to wire under Patrick Husbands in the Durham Cup.

ETOBICOKE, Ontario— The favored Delegation led all the way under Patrick Husbands to notch his first stakes Sunday at Woodbine in the $150,300 Durham Cup.

Delegation, the lone 3-year-old in the lineup, set slow fractions in the nine-furlong Polytrack route, and then held off City Wolf in the stretch to prevail by 1 1/4  lengths, in 1:50.60.

“He’s by Speightstown, which is speed, speed, but he’s not a run-off type,” said Husbands. “You don’t take a hold of him.”

The Mark Casse-trained Delegation returned $4.50 to win in the Grade 3 event, and earned $90,000 for owner Gary Barber.

City Wolf finished four lengths clear of James Street, who was followed by Alpha Bettor, Vertiformer and Mobilizer.
