Woodbine: Dance to My Tune hangs on

EmailDance to My Tune ($23.10) held off Serenading in the final strides to notch her first stakes win in the $160,900 La Lorgnette at Woodbine.

Coy Coyote, the favored Maryland shipper, set fast fractions in the 1 1/16-mile route, while being pressed by Lyrically. Dance to My Tune stalked in third before circling three wide into contention on the far turn.

Dance to My Tune established a clear lead early in the stretch and scored by a neck over Serenading, who was delayed in traffic on the far turn. Lyrically held third, and Coy Coyote faded to fifth in the six-horse field of 3-year-old fillies.

"She just gave it everything she had," said Constant Montpellier, who rode Dance to My Tune for trainer Dave Cotey. "She fought to the wire. There was nothing left at the end."

Dance to My Tune ran the distance in 1:45.71 and earned $105,000 for the partnership of Dominion Bloodstock, Hugh Galbraith, and Derek Ball.
