Woodbine: Cryptograph up in time

Cryptograph rallies to win the Grade 3, $161,050 Durham Cup Handicap at Woodbine on Saturday.

Cryptograph rallied strongly from last in a six-horse field to capture the Grade 3, $161,050 at Woodbine.

Cryptograph raced about seven lengths off fractions of 24.17 and 47.96 seconds set by Honolua Storm. Forever Rush and Sky Diamond joined Honolua Storm on the lead after three-quarters in 1:12, as Cryptograph and Niigon both commenced a wide bid.

Cryptograph hit the front approaching the sixteenth pole, and drew off for a 2 3/4-length win under Todd Kabel. Niigon was second, three-quarters of a length ahead of Forever Rush. Honolua Storm faded to fourth. The winner covered the nine furlongs in 1:52.51.

Trained by Malcolm Pierce, Cryptograph returned $5.10 as the slight favorite.

- Foxy Money ($59.60) overhauled Trail Fox in the final strides to take the supporting feature, the $126,600 Bull Page Stakes. Foxy Money ran six furlongs in 1:12.63 in the Ontario-sire stakes for 2-year-olds. Foxy Money and Trail Fox are both owned by Colebrook Farm and trained by Frank Passero Jr.
