ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Longshot Coachella Valley awaited room on the turn before kicking in nicely to notch her first stakes win in the $150,000 Jammed Lovely at Woodbine Saturday. Coachella Valley saved ground in the seven-furlong sprint and was behind the leading Silent Treat on the turn. After finding room, she opened up a clear lead early in the stretch, and then held off the charging favorite Checkered Past to win by a half-length in 1:23.96. Silent Treat weakened to third in the seven-horse field of Ontario-bred 3-year-old fillies. Coachella Valley, who returned $33.90 in her stakes debut, was coming off back-to-back scores against $16,000 maidens and $25,000 claimers. Emma-Jayne Wilson rode Coachella Valley for Jus Luk Stable and trainer Reade Baker. “I decided to follow (Silent Treat) and take the inside trip,” said Wilson. "She was pretty game.”
