Woodbine: Buffalo Jump gets up late

ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Buffalo Jump ($17.10) passed Dolly Dynamite in deep stretch to win the $164,750 Glorious Song Stakes, a seven-furlong race for 2-year-old fillies at Woodbine.

Heavily favored Winter Garden pressed front-running Neblina until the half-mile pole, where Dolly Dynamite joined the leaders. Buffalo Jump made a three-wide bid on the turn under Patrick Husbands, and got by Dolly Dynamite in the final strides to win by a neck.

Smart Angel was another half-length back in third, while Winter Garden faded to end up fifth in the six-horse field. The time was 1:24.22 over a tracked labeled good.

Husbands's plan was to get Buffalo Jump to relax early. "We sat off the pace," he said. "She made a run, but stopped when she made the lead. She just does as much as she needs to do."
