ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Blue Heart rallied strongly from off a pedestrian pace to take the $150,000 Jammed Lovely Stakes, giving jockey Luis Contreras his fifth winner on the Saturday Woodbine card.

Longshot Miss Scarlett Road set splits of 24.42 and 47.85, as Blue Heart bided her time in fifth on the backstretch, in the seven-furlong sprint for Ontario-bred 3-year-old fillies.

Blue Heart loomed into contention at the quarter pole, and then kicked in through the lane to prevail by a head over a wide-closing Acting Naughty, who finished another head in front of Part the Seas. The final time was 1:23.93.

Brian Lynch trains Blue Heart, now a three-time stakes winner, who was returning from a layoff on Saturday.

“She tries hard all the time,” said Contreras. “Brian told me to be patient in this race, and kick hard at the end.”

Blue Heart returned $5.90 as the favorite, and earned $90,000 for Amerman Racing.
