Despite racing erratically through the stretch run, Black Rock Road remained undefeated in three starts by capturing the $165,600 Carotene Stakes by 2 1/2 lengths at Woodbine.

With Todd Kabel in the saddle for the first time, Black Rock Road stalked the pace of Charming Proposal before taking charge in early stretch and prevailing under strong handling.

"She was pretty green through the lane," said Kabel, who rode his 30th stakes winner of the meeting. "She was looking around at the grandstand."

Velvet Snow finished second, 1 1/2 lengths in front of the weakening Charming Proposal in the 1 1/8-mile turf race for Canadian-bred 3-year-old fillies.

My Vintage Port ran fourth in the field of nine.

Black Rock Road returned $4.30 as the favorite after being timed in 1:48.18.

* In the supporting feature, Wholelottabour-bon ($3.30) registered his third straight stakes score in the $131,625 Bull Page for Ontario-sired 2-year-old colts and geldings.

With David Clark aboard for the first time, Wholelottabourbon broke alertly and engaged in a lengthy duel with Quick in Deed before putting away that rival in midstretch and holding on to score by a nose over Enough is Enough. The final time for six furlongs was 1:11.22.

Enough Is Enough, a maiden who was making just his second start, rallied for second money, two lengths ahead of Quick in Deed. Olympia Fields was fourth in the field of six.
