Lisa Cropp became the first woman to win a national riding title on Sunday when she completed the 2004-05 New Zealand racing season atop the jockey standings with a record 197 victories.

Cropp, 35, broke the national record for most victories, the 193 ridden in the 2001-02 season by Lance O'Sullivan, widely regarded as the greatest jockey in New Zealand history.

Cropp's 197 winners, which left her 73 ahead of the runner-up, Hayden Tinsley, came from 1,261 mounts for earnings of $1,330,026.
