Witt Ante wins Clyde B. Stevens

Witt Ante won his third consecutive race Saturday night when he rolled to a dominating seven-length win over Lac Laronge in the $100,000 Clyde B. Stevens for 3-year-old Louisiana-breds at Delta Downs in Vinton, La.

It was another six and a quarter lengths back in third to Soot.

Witt Ante($3) raced several lengths off the pace in sixth early, while La Laronge and Soot dueled through an opening half-mile in the seven-furlong race in 46.69 seconds. Witt Ante, who was in tight down the backstretch, took command in the stretch and went on to cover the distance, run around two turns, in 1:26.05.

Jockey Kirk LeBlanc rode the winner for owner David Beard and trainer Larry Robideaux, Jr.

Witt Ante earned $60,000 for the win, which improved his record to five wins from seven starts and earnings of $220,757. Prior to the Stevens, the colt won the $75,000 Crescent City and the $85,000 Louisiana Futurity, both for statebreds at Fair Grounds.
