WinStar’s U S Ranger represented by first winner

Sea Bubble set a contested pace throughout and proved best during the late stages to win a one-mile turf maiden special weight on Saturday at Delaware Park. The bay filly became the first winner for multiple stakes winner and WinStar Farm freshman sire U S Ranger.

Sea Bubble completed the distance in 1:41.71 on turf rated firm to pick up her first career win in her third start. Bred by B. P. Walden Jr. and Preston Madden, Jr., the filly is out of the unraced Storm Bird mare Lady Martha. Sea Bubble’s half-sister is millionaire and Grade 1 winner Sand Springs, by Dynaformer, who has produced stakes winners Our Entourage and Mellon Martini. Dust and Diamonds, a multiple graded stakes winner in 2012, is another notable family member.

U S Ranger stood the 2013 season for $5,000 at WinStar in Versailles, Ky. He has 81 foals in his first crop. The 9-year-old son of Danzig won listed stakes in France and Ireland and placed in five group/graded stakes – including two Group 1s – in France, England, Ireland, and the U.S. Overall, he won five of 19 starts and earned $481,775 in four seasons of racing.

U S Ranger is out of the Red Ransom mare My Annette, who is in turn out of Grade 1 winner Andover Way, by His Majesty. Andover Way also produced the prominent late sire Dynaformer as well as the dams of Grade 1 winner and sire Offlee Wild and Group 2 winners Sangrita, Lines of Battle, and Homebound.
