HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – Winslow Homer, winner of the Grade 3 Holy Bull at Gulfstream in 2010, had his first published work since last summer on Wednesday morning at Oaklawn. He breezed three furlongs in a bullet 36 seconds under jockey Jenna Joubert, while clockers caught him galloping out a half-mile in 48.60.
Winslow Homer had been sidelined with a condylar fracture. He last raced Aug. 1 at Saratoga and won the $75,000 Curlin. The horse began his career with Tony Dutrow and is now in the care of trainer Larry Jones, who recently came out of retirement. Jones said Winslow Homer, who races for Fox Hill Farm, could develop into a candidate for the Grade 2, $350,000 Oaklawn Handicap on April 9.
Jones also sent out the Grade 1-placed Joyful Victory for a work Wednesday, and she breezed three furlongs in 37.60 under Joubert. It was the filly’s first drill since finishing fifth in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies. Jones said Joyful Victory is being pointed to the Grade 3, $125,000 Honeybee at Oaklawn on March 12. She, too, races for Fox Hill.

Daylon Miracle is perfect in four career starts. She even won in her career debut despite getting impeded and making a break. The 3-year-old filly has good speed off the gate and should be able to take charge in the City of London Fillies and Mares final. Seeing as she will be 3-5 or so, let’s key her in the exacta over #1 Cynthia Loo and #4 Amber Kadabra.
