Winning Image wins the Cornucopia Stakes in October at Parx Racing.

Winning Image, an 8-year-old daughter of Southern Image who won 14 of 34 starts and $750,237 while racing primarily on the Mid-Atlantic circuit, was purchased for $100,000 by Calumet Farm on Jan. 13 at the Keeneland January horses of all ages sale.

Winning Image, owned by Martin Scafidi, won 10 stakes during her career. Five of those wins came at Parx, where she was based with trainer Michael Aro.

Just in time for breeding season in February.

I love this mare and am surprised her reserve was so low.

I'm wondering what the target audience is for this article? Don't multiple stake winning mares routinely show up at these sales? The 100K purchase price isn't exactly a jaw dropper either. Who is going to care about this article in the least?

My question is why is this story being reported 13 days after the sale and why did a five time stakes winner go for only $100,000 as a broodmare prospect?.

It is a two graph note in a notebook.. How much would you pay for 8YO Winning Image?

I knew she would be sold at auction and she did make it to Keeneland which is huge in itself. She was to be sold awhile back. They raced her a couple of more times. I think she's worth more but her pedigree may have gotten in the way. Fast girl and consistent Been looking for this information.

Because it's a complete non-story.

10 times stakes winner. I'm surprised at the bargain price for such a nice mare retiring sound.

Shows you don't know how to read. she is a ten time stakes winner.

The target audince are Mid-Atlantic racing fans who wacthed her race for 5 years and may wonder what happened to her.

Or Boston-based fans who saw her break her maiden at Suffolk and preceded to follow the rest of her career. Thanks for the article... hope she does well as a broodmare for Calumet.

There's retired mares like that all across the country - you still haven't convinced me why this 100k purchase is worth an article. I'm guessing that you really liked the horse and wanted to write about her. Doesn't make it news-worthy in the least.

Yes indeed, and thank you, from this mid-Atlantic racing fan who loved watching her race, especially knowing that Tony Black would always put in a rare appearance on her back. Ignore Joe's comments. If he isn't interested, he doesn't have to read it.

Joe, this is the only article I cared to open today. She did win 10 stakes and she had alot of starts. Thank you Racing Form

Check out her catalogue page if you know how to read one. The bottom of the page has her accomplishments.
