Wine Tasting Room back on favorite track

Things didn't go so well for the 4-year-old filly Wine Tasting Room when she returned at Turf Paradise this spring after a vacation. But with two races under her belt and - most importantly - a return to the track she thinks she owns, she figures to get her back to her best in Sunday's $15,000 Yavapai Classic Handicap at Yavapai. The six-furlong event for fillies and mares lured a field of nine.

Wine Tasting Room, owned and trained by Myron Kumke, has been a dynamo over this track. She's won 3 of her 4 local starts, including two stakes wins here last year. She finished second in her only loss on this track.

This marks her first start of the meet. After a winter vacation Wine Tasting Room came back to be third in an allowance turf race at Turf Paradise April 4, and was then sixth in the Desert Sky Handicap on the turf there May 3. This distance, surface, class level and site all suit Wine Tasting Room, who will be ridden by Kristina Kenney at 124 pounds.

Mobile, trained by Manuel Ortiz, looked back to full strength with a strong win going a mile at Turf Paradise April 26. That was her first victory since she won an allowance race at Yavapai last July. She has 2 wins and 2 seconds in 5 local starts. Vince Guerra rides at 121 pounds.

Unscrupulous was second to Mobile last out and has won 2 of her 4 starts here. Jeri G was second and fourth behind Wine Tasting Room in a pair of stakes here last summer. Ten Tenors comes here in peak form, having won two straight and finishing first or second in her last seven. She steps up in class. Mudder of Pearl has won 3 of her last 4 and finished in the top three in 10 straight. She also steps up in class.
