Winchester, Grade 1 turf winner, retired

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Diana and Bert Firestone have retired their homebred Grade 1 winner Winchester, the Blood-Horse has reported.

There are no stud plans yet, and Winchester, a 7-year-old Theatrical horse, is available for inspection at Miacomet Farm in Georgetown, Ky.

Winchester won four Grade 1’s, all on the grass: the 2011 Sword Dancer Invitational, 2010 Joe Hirsch Turf Classic Invitational Stakes and Manhattan Handicap, and the 2008 Secretariat Stakes. He also placed in nine other stakes, eight of them graded, and earned a total of $1,587,098 from 6 wins, 6 seconds, and 3 thirds in 25 lifetime starts, all but one on the turf.

Winchester is out of the Spectrum mare Rum Charger, a Group 3 winner, and is her first stakes-winner.
