Willowbrook Lane tops Bob Feller

ALTOONA, Iowa - Hard-hitting older horses Willowbrook Lane and Sand Ridge head a field of seven in the $50,000 Bob Feller Stakes at six furlongs Saturday at Prairie Meadows.

Willowbrook Lane, a 7-year-old gelded son of Lost Code, enters the Feller off a victory in the Honey Mark at Hawthorne on May 5 at nearly 16-1. The Honey Mark was Willowbrook Lane's second stakes score of the year. He also has three second-place finishes in seven starts in 2001.

Trained by Stephanie Rakers, Willowbrook Lane sports a record of 15-12-5 from 56 career starts, and has earned $446,874. Rodney Trader rides Willowbrook Lane in the Feller.

Sand Ridge may have the home field advantage Saturday, as he enters off a 1 1/4-length win in the five-furlong Prairie Express here May 5. A 6-year-old-gelding, Sand Ridge has nine career wins and more than $328,000 in earnings.

Trainer Don Von Hemel has given Ken Shino, who will come in from Canterbury, a return call aboard Sand Ridge for owner Thunderhead Farms.
