Will Munnings makes it two straight in Gazebo

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. - Will Munnings won his second straight race at the Oaklawn Park meet on Saturday, when he darted home by 1 3/4 lengths over Entertainer in the $100,000 Gazebo. It was another two lengths back in third to Force It in the six-furlong race for 3-year-olds.

Will Munnings came into the race off a first-level allowance win at the same distance Feb. 28 at Oaklawn. The Gazebo is expected to produce starters for the $150,000 Bachelor at six furlongs April 15 at Oaklawn.

Will Munnings ($6.80) was with the pace from the start, dueling with Cataroux through fractions of 21.84 seconds for the opening quarter and 45.20 for the half-mile. Will Munnings began to pull clear from there, and went on to cover the distance on a fast track in 1:10.92.

Jon Court was aboard for trainer Jinks Fires.

Will Munnings earned $60,000 for the win in the Gazebo for owner Xpress Thoroughbreds. It was the horse’s third victory from nine starts. He has now earned $169,880. Will Munnings is a son of Munnings who was bred in Kentucky by Buck Pond Farm.   

Attendance on Saturday was an estimated 13,000. There is no training or racing Sunday at Oaklawn in observance of Easter.
