Wildcat Heir leads Journeyman roster for 2014

Wildcat Heir will lead the stallion roster at Brent and Crystal Fernung’s Journeyman Stud in Ocala, Fla., for 2014, standing for a fee of $10,000, stands and nurses.

The 13-year-old son of Forest Wildcat is currently third on Florida’s general sire list. He stood for $8,000 in 2013.

Behind Wildcat Heir on the 13-stallion roster is Awesome of Course, sire of champion filly Awesome Feather. He will stand for $7,500.

Journeyman adds two new stallions for 2014 in Grade 3 winner Winslow Homer, who stands for $5,000; and Grade 3 winner Brethren, a half-brother to Kentucky Derby winner Super Saver, who will debut at $6,000.

The roster also includes Sweet Return, standing for $5,000; Kiss the Kid, standing for $3,500; Hear No Evil, standing for $3,000; Circular Quay, Cowtown Cat, Exclusive Quality, and Indy Wind at $2,500 each; and J P’s Gusto and Saint Anddan, both at $2,000.

“The additions of Brethren and Winslow Homer to a roster of leading Florida sires, such as Wildcat Heir, Awesome of Course, Circular Quay, and Exclusive Quality, provides the breeders in Florida with a diverse and successful group of horses to choose from,” Brent Fernung said. “We're excited about the future at Journeyman Stud.”

Journeyman will host an open house Oct. 28 and 29 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Eastern each day.
