Wild Rose turns into a rematch

EDMONTON, Alberta - A Shaky Start, top weighted at 120 pounds, will seek her second stakes victory of the year when she heads a field of eight fillies and mares in Friday's 6 1/2-furlong Wild Rose Handicap at Northlands Park.

A Shaky Start opened the season by winning the Sales Stakes for older fillies and mares and then finished fourth in the Marc Jenkins Memorial to the invader Stole One, who returns from Vancouver for the Wild Rose.

In her last two starts, A Shaky Start was second to the wire in both the Ken Pearson Memorial and Duchess of York. She was disqualified and placed third in the Pearson, in which Stole One was fourth.

Stole One won the Jenkins under jockey Chris Loseth, who subsequently retired.

Quincy Welch picks up the mount on Stole One, who drew post 7. A Shaky Start breaks from the outside with regular rider Leanne Painter.

Kellys Guest, who will have the rail with Stephan Heiler aboard, is coming off a pair of allowance wins after running third to Stole One in the Jenkins.

Weekend Ceilidh will make her seasonal debut after closing out her 2004 campaign with four straight wins, including the restricted Alberta Oaks. Real Simard will ride.

Unforgettable Too was second in both the Jenkins and Pearson after a pair of allowance victories.

Rounding out the field are Shy Lil, Robyn's Request, and Gleichen Reserve.
