Wide-open field in Bold Accent

Nine older fillies and mares will begin the stakes season at Fonner Park when they meet at a half-mile in the $10,000 Bold Accent Stakes.

Stroll By, a 4-year-old trained by Larry Donlin, should be among the favorites in a wide-open race. She was 3 for 3 over this track last spring and will be in search of her second stakes win.

Lady Countdown returns to action for trainer Charlie Smith. Winner of the Chantilly Stakes at Assiniboia Downs last summer, she has been idle since finishing a tiring seventh in the Magnolia Stakes at Delta Downs in October.

Day Trippi, a $12,500 claim by trainer Dan Coughlin at Fair Grounds on Feb. 8 in her last start, should also be a strong contender. A 4-year-old, she was second in that race and already has a five-furlong win this year against $7,500 company in early January. She comes into this race with a decided fitness edge and will probably vie for the favorite's role.
