West Point Thoroughbreds sponsors Breeders' Cup Betting Challenge

West Point Thoroughbreds, the racing partnership company, has signed a deal giving it presenting sponsorship rights to the Breeders’ Cup Betting Challenge, and the company will award financial interests in a West Point Thoroughbreds horse to the top two finishers in the handicapping contest, the Breeders’ Cup and West Point Thoroughbreds announced Friday.

The multiyear deal will give West Point Thoroughbreds naming and promotional rights to the tournament along with the rights to partner with the five tracks scheduled to hold qualifying tournaments for the Challenge this year, according to the companies. West Point Thoroughbreds also will give the winner of the Challenge a $25,000 interest of a horse in its stable, while the second-place finisher will receive a $10,000 share of a West Point horse.

The Breeders’ Cup Betting Challenge is the largest live-money handicapping contest in the U.S., requiring a $10,000 buy-in from players who compete to post the highest bankroll while betting on the two-day Breeders’ Cup event. Now in its seventh year, the contest this year will expand to four satellite locations – Aqueduct, Gulfstream, Del Mar, and Santa Anita – for the Oct. 30-31 event at Keeneland.
