Wend wins the $150,000 Hollywood Wildcat Breeders' Cup Handicap at Calder on Saturday.

Wend kept her perfect turf record intact with an extremely easy 5 1/2-length decision in the $150,000 Hollywood Wildcat Breeders' Cup Handicap, the richest of four stakes on Saturday's 12-race card at Calder Race Course.

Wend, a 4-year-old daughter of Pulpit making her stakes debut, came into the 1 1/16-mile Hollywood Wildcat undefeated in three previous starts on grass.

Ridden by Jerry Bailey, Wend rated off a contested pace set by longshots Stormy Kitty and Lentil, easily caught and disposed of Lentil leaving the quarter pole, and was not threatened while kept to pressure down the stretch.

Minge Cove outgamed Hymn of Love by a half-length to finish second.

Trained by Bill Mott for owner-breeder Claiborne Farm, Wend paid $3.40 after completing the distance in 1:40.23 over the firm course.

Wend's victory came in the third leg of an all-stakes pick four that paid $2,205.90.

"She was much the best," said Bailey. "She is learning to relax ,and that is making her a better race horse."
