Website launched by Jockey Club, NTRA

The Jockey Club and the National Thoroughbred Racing Association on Monday officially launched a new website designed to promote the sport to new and existing fans.

The website, at followhorseracing.com, is part of a larger effort by the Jockey Club to implement recommendations contained in a report it funded last year. The report, which was completed by the consulting company McKinsey & Company, said that racing needed a more focused presence on the internet and would benefit from creating social-network games and online tutorials.

The site includes information on leading horses, owners, trainers, and jockeys, as well as contributions from bloggers. The site also includes a directory of tweets from racing participants.

Some of the content from the site has been transferred from an existing site maintained by the NTRA, which has administered the sport’s online marketing efforts for a decade. The new site will incorporate nearly all of the marketing content of the NTRA site, officials said.
