Weather hits three cards

Thistledown, Woodbine, and Mountaineer canceled racing Friday because of inclement weather.

Woodbine, near Toronto, canceled its entire card for the second straight day because of track conditions, as frozen clumps of dirt presented a serious hazard for both horses and riders.

The Toronto area was hit by its first major winter storm on Thursday. Racing was scheduled to resume Saturday afternoon.

Thistledown canceled after the Cleveland area was hit with four inches of snow and a cold snap. Racing was scheduled to resume Saturday.

Mountaineer also encountered severe weather.
