Washington summer yearling and mixed catalog now online

The catalog for the 2015 Washington Thoroughbred Breeders and Owners Association is now available online, featuring 114 entries.

The one-day sale will be held Tuesday, Aug. 18 at the Morris J. Alhadeff Sales Pavilion at Emerald Downs in Auburn, Wash. A total of 105 yearlings were entered in this year’s renewal, as well as nine broodmares and horses of racing age.

Graduates of the summer sale will be eligible for the Emerald Downs “Buy Here/Win Here” program, which rewards consignors and owners with a bonus if the horse breaks his or her maiden at the Washington track.

The amount of the award, split equally between the consignor and the owner of the horse who broke his or her maiden, varies depending on the class of race; from $2,250 for a $5,000 maiden claiming race up to $7,300 for a win in a maiden special weight, allowance, or stakes race.

Sires whose first yearlings are represented in the catalog include Atta Boy Roy, Bullet Train, Coil, Dialed In, and Gemologist. The catalog also includes a mare in foal to California-based first-year sire Lakerville.

States and provinces where yearlings in this year’s catalog were bred include Washington, Arkansas, California, Florida, Kentucky, New York, Oregon, and British Columbia.
