Ward eyes return to England

Having returned from a successful trip to England on Tuesday, trainer Wesley Ward has settled his four of his six Royal Ascot runners in at Monmouth Park but is already planning a return to England with one of them.

Jealous Again, the remarkably easy five-length winner of the Group 2 Queen Mary Stakes for juvenile fillies last Wednesday, could be back in Britain for the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket on Oct. 2. That six-furlong, Group 1 test is one of Europe's most important races for 2-year-old fillies, having been won in recent years by Natagora, Indian Ink, Magical Romance, and Carry On Katie.

Ward also has big plans for Cannonball, runner-up in the Group 1 Golden Jubilee. The trainer had briefly flirted with the idea of keeping Cannonball at Newmarket for the July Cup on July 10, but decided that that six-furlong Group 1 came too soon after his two races at Royal Ascot. The Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint on Santa Anita's downhill turf course on Nov. 7 and the six-furlong Hong Kong Sprint at Sha Tin on Dec. 13 are now his preferred goals.
