Wando to stand at Lane's End

Wando, Canada's Horse of the Year and champion 3-year-old in 2003, will enter stud next year at Lane's End Farm in Kentucky.

Wando, a 5-year-old horse owned and bred by Gustav Schickedanz, won the Canadian Triple Crown of the Queen's Plate, Prince of Wales, and Breeders' Stakes in his award-winning campaign.

A son of multiple Grade 1 winner Langfuhr and Grade 2 winner Kathie's Colleen, Wando was retired in May after finishing off the board in the Westchester at Belmont. His trainer, Mike Keogh, said Wando had suffered a slight tear in his left hind suspensory, probably during the race.

Wando earned $2,566,060 on a record of 11-2-2 from 23 starts. his stud fee has yet to be announced.
