ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Anne Walker, a graduate of the Ontario Veterinary College, has been appointed as a member of the Ontario Racing Commission for a two-year term, effective Oct. 12.
The ORC announced the appointment in a news release late Monday afternoon.
Walker also is a practicing civil litigation lawyer and has owned, bred, and raced Thoroughbreds for many years.
“I feel privileged to have the opportunity to contribute to the success and integrity of this sport and the welfare of those individuals and horses who make it all possible,” Walker said in a prepared statement
Rod Seiling, the ORC chairman, welcomed the new commissioner.
“Dr. Walker’s experience and insight will provide valued input to the regulatory process,” Seiling said. “We all look forward to her joining the governing board at such a critical time for horse racing in Ontario.
