Wabash Sue looks to rebound

ANDERSON, Ind. - Wabash Sue tries to regain her form in Saturday's $40,000 Madison County Stakes for Indiana-bred or -sired fillies and mares at six furlongs.

The Madison County kicks off a schedule of 26 stakes races to be offered at Hoosier Park through the 70-day meet.

Trained by Ray Stifano, Wabash Sue has yet to find her 2000 form, when she won three races and earned more than $76,000. She is 0 for 3 this year, with starts in allowance and high-priced claiming company at Tampa Bay and Prairie Meadows.

Wabash Sue won this race a year ago in her last start at Hoosier Park. Mike Allen will ride at high weight of 120 pounds.

Four-year-old Voter's Choice and 3-year-old Maggie's Dream make their 2001 debuts in the Madison County. Voter's Choice, to be ridden by Cindy Noll, was an allowance winner last year and has compiled a 2-4-2 record from 12 starts over the track.

Maggie's Dream, with Jamie Theriot aboard, has been working well over the track, and her front-running style resulted in strong stakes efforts a year ago.

Late-running Indy Annie, trained by Charles Hawkins, will be ridden Saturday by Terry Thompson. Indy Annie failed to get a grip on the sloppy footing in her last start on Sept. 7.
