Vinery raises fees for two top stallions

EmailTwo Vinery stallions who have had exceptional years in 2007 have gotten significant fee hikes for 2008.

More Than Ready, whose juvenile son Ready's Image won the Grade 2 Sanford and the Tremont, will rise from $40,000 to $60,000. And Posse, currently the nation's leading freshman sire with such runners as Kodiak Kowboy, third in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile and a Grade 2 winner, and Lantana Mob, a Grade 3 winner, will go from $12,500 to $30,000.

Both stallions stand at Vinery's Kentucky division in Lexington. More Than Ready, now 10, is a son of Southern Halo. Posse, 7, is by Silver Deputy out of the Rahy mare Raska.

Two other Vinery Kentucky stallions will get fee cuts in 2008. Limehouse will drop from $17,500 to $15,000, while The Cliff's Edge goes from $15,000 to $10,000.

Other Vinery Kentucky stallions for 2008 and their fees are Brahms, $8,500; Gilded Time, $10,000; Pure Prize, $12,500; Purge, $20,000; Silver Train, $25,000; Stormello, $15,000; and Yonaguska, $10,000.

Vinery's Florida division in Summerfield, Fla., gets four new residents this year with Alke ($4,000), Congrats ($12,500), Pomeroy ($10,000), and Repent ($5,000). Among the farm's four other stallions, three will have lower fees this year than last. They are Fire Slam, reduced from $6,000 to $4,000; Peace Rules, dropping from $15,000 to $12,500; and Trust N Luck, down from $5,000 to $3,500. D'Wildcat stays the same at $6,500.
