Viansa Ossidiana wins Bay Meadows' stakes

SAN MATEO, Calif. - Viansa Ossidiana ($20.60) won her stakes debut with a wire-to-wire victory despite racing three wide in a three-way duel in the $65,900 Time To Leave Stakes at Bay Meadows.

Viansa Ossidiana won the six-furlong race for 2-year-old fillies by 1 1/2 lengths over Hostility in 1:09.98. Previously unbeaten Tale Of A Dream was third.

Viansa Ossidiana raced outside stablemate Non Sibi and favored Hollywood Honey before her two rivals faded.

"This filly's much better outside. She gets real finicky if she gets in tight," winning rider Jason Lumpkins said. "I let her place herself. At the quarter pole, I asked her to go, and she responded to me."

Winning trainer Jerry Hollendorfer, a co-owner with Marta Racing Ventures, said, "I thought she could sit where she wanted because she drew a good post. I think she'll be better the farther they go."

Viansa Ossidiana earned $33,500 for her second victory in four starts, increasing her lifetime earnings to $61,210.
