Vernon: Sunday 8/26 Analysis

MEET STATS: 0 - 0 / $0.00

Best Bet: MARKET SHARE (10th)    Spot Play: WHEELS (3rd)

Race 1

(7) LIKEABATOUTAHELL rebounded nicely in a Winners Over event at Pocono and Trond Smedshammer's gelding looks like he may have a slight class edge over these. (6) SPEED BOMB has been holding his own versus good competition at Yonkers. (8) SCORPION MOON is the King of the locals.

Race 2

(8) SHARK SHOOTER gets one of the more notable driver changes in here to Pierce and the fresh hands could get him over the top. (3) SPEEDY VALENTINE tries Brian Sears today and he's been improving in his last few. (6) EOOS looks faster than most of these; prime contender.

Race 3

(3) WHEELS has been facing seasoned overnight competition at Yonkers with good success when he stays trotting; class edge here. (2) WHIMZICAL BRITT just missed last out and the filly hails from good trotting connections. (7) MACKSMITH has been a good earner on the NY Sire Stakes circuit.

Race 4

(1C) GYM TAN LAUNDRY is one-fourth of a powerful-looking entry. This one showed good speed in the Goodtimes and the Hambletonian. Ready to snap seasonal skid? (3) BANKER VOLO was well backed in his Hambo elim and tired after being aggressively handled; with the exception of the entry, he looks best of the rest. For pari-mutuel purposes, (2) LIGHTNING STORM could save ground and hold for a share.

Race 5

(7) BLUFF looks like she'll head to the front and have to be caught under Dave Palone. (3) ON THE PODIUM qualified in good order for the Schnittker barn. (6) FRISKY JOE merits a look with Brian Sears driving.

Race 6

(3) AUNT MEL appears the most logical here based on her perfect post and current form; Andy Miller will likely make one early move to the front. (7) BLUE YONDER was a good earner as a freshman and she raced well with Gingras three back. (8) PRETEND TO BE NICE is worth a look with the switch to Tetrick.

Race 7

(5) BUGATTI HANOVER isn't the most sure-footed pacer in here, but he may be the fastest. Dave Miller drives. (7) DISCO DRAGON returns from Saratoga for a top local conditioner; worth a look. (9) CAIDENS COLT picks up Sears and could be a closing threat; I've seen the veteran do it before.

Race 8

(2) CHECK ME OUT proved that the Hambo Oaks disaster was just a fluke. She rebounded by cruising in a PA Sire Stakes event at The Meadows and all roads to the winners circle today lead through her. (1) PERSONAL STYLE was the upset winner of the Oaks, then never got involved in the Moni Maker from post 10. Dave Miller should be in a better spot today. (3) WIN MISSY B is a highly regarded speedster, could have no problem getting out from post seven.

Race 9

Driver George Brennan has plenty of experience driving (4) BURL HANOVER, and perhaps his golden hands can wake the gelding up. (6) HENDRIX and (9) NUKES FLASH both enter today's race in good form.

Race 10

(2) MARKET SHARE elected to sit a pocket in the Colonial at Philly, closed with good trot but Googoo Gaagaa had a slight jump on him; `Googoo' isn't here today so the Hambo winner should get back to business. (8) ARCHANGEL has been hard to fault in all starts and we can bank on Morrill, Jr. sending this one out hard. Sits a trip behind Market Share? (3) UNCLE PETER fizzled out in the Hambo as the favorite, then never got involved in the Colonial; Takter should at least have the colt in striking position today.

Race 11

(8) OOZIES BAD BOY has been a consistent claimer for the Plano barn and even with Tetrick driving, he may provide some value in this competitive field. (3) MACH MY WORD is the other one in here for a tag and he looks for three in a row at this level. (5) SPECULATIVE EDGE is making just his tenth start in two years and he appears to be hitting his best stride.

Race 12

(7) OSCAR OSCAR was the odds-on fave last week at Yonkers and prior to that paced in under 1:50 with regularity at The Big M; all signs point to him. (6) MAJOR BELLE has been a steady earner for the Burke barn. (5) DIAMOND STICK PIN has had his moments here in the past.

Race 13

(2) FOX VALLEY MERCURY showed improvement when dropped to this level and he should build off that effort. (4) BIGTOWN HERO was a blowout winner last out for Plano; can he string two good efforts together? (8) LAST CONQUEST drops and could pose a threat.
