Vernon: Friday 9/6 Analysis

Best Bet: MAVEN (10th)

Spot Play: KEN DOLL J (6th)

Race 1

(7) WINDSUN GALLIANO finally got back on a winning note last time. This son of Ken Warkentin has ability and should be able to step up versus this group. (5) SHOCKOE HANOVER switched barns and qualified nicely. A better effort is possible. (4) ROYALTY FREE & (2) POP MY BUTTONS have early speed. (6) MYSTIC SPLENDOR adds Tetrick.

Race 2

(5) BILLMAR SCOOTER ships in from Yonkers where he was facing the best horses on the grounds. This is a giant step down the class ladder. (2) IM THE PIED PIPER almost went down the road here last time; respect. (1) JK PANACHE has inside speed.

Race 3

(5) BRIOLETTE HANOVER parlayed a good trip into a victory upon arrival from Canada. Filly gets another free ride at this level. (1) VICTORIA GALLERY is still looking for her first win in 15 career starts. Perhaps the barn change to Huckabone will make a difference. (2) SCOTTISH RITE chased nicely last time.

Race 4

(4) ZIEGLER HANOVER scored in this class last week and has won three straight; enough said. (5) RAYS COMMANDO was a solid second off the claim. (2) POLLUX BLUE CHIP is another coming off a win in this class. (1) HALLIN CASH looks like an exotics player.

Race 5

(1) NO BAD DREAMS made a break in his lone pari-mutuel start but has looked super in his qualifiers. Let’s hope this son of Dream Away can get his act together under the lights. (6) TAKE THE EDGE OFF debuts for the solid Mark Harder barn and lures Tetrick. (5) PO PO DEE hasn’t had much luck with the post Gods or with trips. This is a good spot.

Race 6

(4) KEN DOLL J improved from her first start to her second attempt. The connections who brought you Heston Blue Chip could have a decent filly in this daughter of Bettor’s Delight. (6) SWEET BROWN has raced well in both career tries and should be used on most tickets. (5) HAY STACKED has early speed and a touch of ability; using underneath.

Race 7

(4) SWEETNSINFUL has won two of his last three Sire Stakes races and deserves the call. (2) INSTANT RESPECT gets trainer Jimmy Takter in the bike this week. Perhaps he can unlock the secret to a win. (3) RAIN CLOUD HANOVER was victorious in his lone NYSS race and figures to be a player tonight. (6) JADED DREAM moves into the Burke barn.

Race 8

(8) BAREFOOT BEAUTY dropped to this class last week and scored a nice win. Art Major filly has early speed and should be using it. (4) VALENTINA DE VIE won her only race against this level of competition. (9) SPREESTER & (7) LOTSA MATZAH posted final times equal to my top choice last time out.

Race 9

(1) JK MOLLY simply looks to be a step faster than this group right now. I give her the clear edge in here. (2) A LA NOTTE HANOVER has yet to miss the board in three career starts for top trainer Ron Burke. (3) ZOE BLUE CHIP needs to pick up her game to beat my top choice, but she does hail from a top barn.

Race 10

(1) MAVEN has certainly stamped herself as the queen of the older mare trotting division. After a subpar effort in the Ima Lula, trainer Jonas Czernyson added Lasix and it made all the difference. This race goes through her. (2) BEATGOESON HANOVER appears to be the only other mare with the class and current form to content with Maven. Still, she has to step up her game one notch to accomplish the task of an upset. (5) CEDAR DOVE should gun off the gate and get a piece.

Race 11

(5) INTIMIDATE comes off a pair of powerful scores at Mohawk and looks to step back up to stakes competition. Last year’s Breeders Crown winner only needs to be in striking position to surge to the lead in the stretch. (1A) MARKET SHARE can point to bad posts for his recent failures. On Friday he draws nicely and will have no excuses. I’m expecting a top effort. (3) SEVRUGA is one of the top older trotters in training; hard to toss.

Race 12

(4) CARLOTA BLUE CHIP hasn’t shown much in her two career starts, but there was a positive sign of a 27 3/5 final quarter in her most recent race. The daughter of American Ideal could be ready to take another step forward at a big price. (7) GAME OF DREAMERS has perked up nicely since moving to this lower level of the Sire Stakes. She is a must use.  (8) ONE HOT MAJORETTE only needs a smooth trip to find her way to the winner’s circle. (5) JUST ADD VODKA is certainly capable and was Morrill’s choice.
