Vancouver invader looks plenty fast

EDMONTON, Alberta – Wednesday’s $50,000 Edmonton Juvenile kicks off the stakes schedule for 2-year-olds on this circuit and attracted a field of nine colts and geldings.

Heading the 6 1/2-furlong Edmonton Juvenile are Hastings shipper Saratoga Attire and Robo Willie, a half-brother to Alberta’s 2007 champion 2-year-old filly Littlemiss Allison, from Greg Tracy’s powerful shed row.

Saratoga Attire is the only entrant with two starts under his belt, and he drew the outside post with Quincy Welch picking up the mount. Saratoga Attire flashed speed in his two efforts, both going 3 1/2 furlongs in Vancouver, and looks to be the one to catch. He is trained by Troy Taylor.

Robo Willie ran well here to be second to the highly regarded filly Curls and Pearls, who is the early favorite for Friday’s Princess Margaret. Tracy removes the blinkers on Robo Willie, who may have not seen the winner coming at him in his opener. Rickey Walcott breaks Robo Willie from post 4 as Tracy seeks to win this race for the third consecutive year.

* Teagues Fight ($4.70) won the rubber match with arch-rival Footprint in Saturday’s Spangled Jimmy under a well-judged ride from Stephan Heiler. Teagues Fight stalked the pacesetting Cool Synsation and took the lead approaching the quarter pole, getting the jump on Footprint, who fell a neck shy.

* Vancouver invader Lecturing Lynn ($7.40) was handy winner of the Chariot Chaser last Friday.
