Valley Loot heads Michigan Oaks cast

Valley Loot, who stumbled and lost her rider in her quest for a fifth straight win in last month's Ann Arbor Stakes, will be favored in the $50,000 Michigan Oaks at Great Lakes Downs. The 1 1/16-mile race for Michigan-bred 3-year-old fillies attracted seven runners.

Valley Loot, trained by Ronnie Allen, won the Regret and the Plymouth Stakes prior to the Ann Arbor Stakes on Aug. 18. She stumbled at the start of the Ann Arbor and threw regular rider Mike Allen, but returned unharmed. On Sept. 4, she worked five furlongs in 1:04.20.

Candy Cane led most of the way to win the Ann Arbor for trainer John Rupert. She was headed at the quarter pole but re-rallied to win.

Desert Symphony was beaten less than a length by Candy Cane in the Ann Arbor and returns in the Oaks. Trained by Del Waite, Desert Symphony will be ridden again by Ricardo Barrios.

Lets Get Creative and Seductiveenjoyment also return from the Ann Arbor.
